Columbia-based Integer Technologies was named South Carolina’s Fastest Growing Company at the 2024 50 Fastest Growing Companies awards ceremony on October 1.
The SC 50 Fastest Growing Companies Award is an annual ranking of the Palmetto State’s 50 most dynamic and successful companies.
To be eligible, companies must be headquartered in South Carolina and in business for at least three years, with revenues of more than $3 million in the last fiscal year. The companies were selected using a calculation based on year-over-year growth of revenue and employee headcount over the last three years.
Recipients were honored at a luncheon at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on October 1 where Michael Amiridis, Ph.D., president of the University of South Carolina, was the keynote speaker.
Dr. Amiridis spoke about the expertise of USC’s faculty and the university’s goal to be a leader in training the South Carolina workforce to meet industry needs in critical, high-tech fields such as AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing and energy. He applauded recipients for creating job opportunities that augment the SC technology corridor and retain USC graduates locally.
Duke Hartman, CEO of Integer Technologies, accepted the top award and highlighted how working closely with strong university partners has been instrumental in Integer’s success.
“As the sole breadwinner with a young family, starting a company can be a scary thing,” said Hartman. “Having people who believe in you is critical, and the people at the University of South Carolina have done so much for our company and our national security customers.”
“We are heavily partnered with USC and are actively working with them on AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing and energy programs,” said Hartman. “In addition to expanding our joint defense research programs, they’ve been a tremendous resource for talent — roughly half of our Columbia engineers are USC grads.”
Hartman recognized USC colleagues seated with the Integer team, including Dr. Hossein Haj-Hariri, dean of the Molinari College of Engineering and Computing; Dr. Paul Ziehl, director of the McNAIR Aerospace Center and associate dean for research at the Molinari College of Engineering and Computing; and Vice Admiral Paul Gaffney (USN, ret.), advisor to the USC dean of engineering.
The SC 50 Fastest Growing Companies ranking is in its 23rd year and sponsored by Integrated Media Publishing, The Capital Corporation, TD Bank, and Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP.
