Job Description

Computer Vision Engineer

What We Do

Integer Technologies is an applied research and product development company founded by scientists and engineers with a passion for technology and national security. Our core portfolio of research includes projects in power & energy systems, unmanned systems (with an emphasis on maritime systems), digital engineering, and advanced manufacturing. We are hardware and software developers with experience turning research into impactful products for military and commercial applications. We are a startup founded for the purpose of putting research into action. Our mission is to create a safer world by translating scientific discoveries into reliable products that address urgent national security needs… at the speed of relevance. We are hiring for an immediate opening for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to perform R&D on next generation unmanned and autonomous systems and technologies for the Department of Defense and other U.S. Government agencies.

Integer’s unmanned systems portfolio includes work on critical enabling technologies for more reliable, more intelligent, and longer-duration unmanned and autonomous systems. We are actively developing a new perception system for maritime vehicles that automatically detects objects on and just below the surface of the water, day or night, and in most weather conditions, by fusing sensor data from multi-spectral cameras and radar using reliable and validated artificial intelligence algorithms. We are looking for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to help us prototype the most advanced perception system available for maritime environments. You will have the opportunity to engage the full life cycle of development, from cutting-edge algorithms for object detection and scene understanding to deploying prototype perception systems on commercial and military vehicles.

About the Role

The Senior Computer Vision Engineer is responsible for full life cycle application development of computer vision systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep theoretical understanding of the latest approaches in computer vision, such as deep convolutional networks, advanced training techniques for domains with sparse data, and will have a passion for deploying systems into the physical world. Starting on your very first day with Integer, you will be developing a perception system for an unmanned surface vessel that combines multi-spectral cameras and radar to achieve best-in-class performance for object detection and understanding of the environment. There will be many live test and demonstration opportunities using both commercial and military vessels where the Senior Computer Vision Engineer is expected to lead integration of our prototypes onto the vehicles, troubleshoot issues that may arise, and showcase your latest developments to the customer.

The Senior Computer Vision Engineer is expected to take ownership of all computer vision-related research and be a core team contributor for growing this exciting business unit. Many of our projects and products involve software deployed on physical systems and vehicles that must operate in harsh environments. Therefore, we are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience developing applications for robotics, automotive, manufacturing, oil & gas, industrial internet of things, or defense and aerospace applications. We are also interested in candidates with strong computer vision backgrounds who are also interested in expanding their work to other areas of autonomous system development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university.

  • 4 years or more work experience in a relevant industry with relevant technology.

  • Software engineering experience- specifically experience developing computer vision enabled software systems with common libraries such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.

  • Strong understanding of the state-of-the-art (and limitations) in computer vision approaches, particularly deep neural network approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance that requires U.S. citizenship. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First-hand experience deploying computer vision enabled systems into harsh environments, such as military, maritime, aerospace, commercial automotive, or industrial vehicles.

  • MS or PhD degree in a relevant field of study.

  • Experience developing applications for a variety of processing architectures, including GPU and/or FPGA.

  • Experience developing for other aspects of unmanned and autonomous systems, such as control or autonomous decision making.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills.

Company Perks

  • Startup culture with stability: direct access to company leadership, prioritization of people over process, and a stellar team with a shared desire to grow. Backlog of multiple years of contracts.

  • Hybrid work structure & schedule flexibility.

  • Base salary that exceeds industry averages.

  • Performance-based bonuses on top of base salary.

  • Full medical, prescription, vision, and dental insurance coverage for employee and dependents. Integer pays 100% of health insurance premiums for your entire family for our standard plan from a national insurer.
