Integer Technologies announces William Ard has joined the team as an Autonomy Engineer

William will focus on distributed autonomous systems in maritime environments. He’ll be working out of our newly established Baton Rouge, Louisiana office, where he will be part of a team that develops intelligent data management strategies that leverage both artificial intelligence and advanced sensors to facilitate coordination between different maritime platforms.

“I chose to work at Integer because I get the opportunity to work with a great team of engineers and scientists who are doing cutting-edge applied research in maritime systems,” said William.

William earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from LSU and brings to Integer a strong background in maritime robotics. At LSU, he was a member of the Innovation in Control and Robotics Engineering Laboratory (iCORE Laboratory), studying motion planning and computer vision in the domain of industrial and underwater robotics.

He was also a member of a multi-institute team funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to develop and deploy systems used for the autonomous survey and detection of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. William worked on a second NOAA project to build and field test an underwater vehicle system to survey and classify deep-sea corals.

As a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, William enjoys spending time in nature, backpacking, hiking, and rebuilding and restoring vintage cars and trucks.
